Security & Privacy

Qubes is designed with privacy-first principles. Your data stays on your device, encrypted with military-grade cryptography.

TL;DR

Encryption Standards

Qubes uses industry-standard cryptographic algorithms to protect your data. All encryption happens locally on your device before any data is stored.

AES-256-GCM
Data encryption at rest
Argon2id
Password key derivation
ECDSA secp256k1
Digital signatures
ECIES
Asymmetric encryption
SHA-256
Hash chain integrity
Merkle Trees
Memory verification

Data Storage & Location

All your data is stored locally on your computer. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.

Data Type Location Protection
Conversations Local only AES-256 encrypted
Memory chain Local only AES-256 + SHA-256 hashes
Private keys Local only Argon2id + AES-256
Qube identity (NFT) Bitcoin Cash blockchain Public, immutable
Avatar image IPFS (decentralized) Public, content-addressed
API keys Local only AES-256 encrypted

What We Don't Collect

  • No user accounts or registration required
  • No analytics or telemetry
  • No conversation logging
  • No IP address tracking
  • No device fingerprinting
  • No third-party tracking scripts
  • No advertising or marketing data

Cloud AI Providers

If you choose to use cloud AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.), your conversations are sent to those providers according to their respective privacy policies. Qubes does not store or log these conversations.

Your options:

  • Cloud providers: Conversations sent to AI provider, subject to their privacy policy
  • Sovereign Mode: Run Ollama or LM Studio locally for 100% offline operation

We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any cloud AI provider you choose to use:

Blockchain & Public Data

When you mint a Qube, certain information is published to the Bitcoin Cash blockchain:

What's public on the blockchain:

  • Qube name and description
  • Avatar image (stored on IPFS)
  • NFT ownership address
  • Minting timestamp

Your conversations, memories, private keys, and personal data are never published to the blockchain. The blockchain only contains your Qube's public identity.

Security Best Practices

Recommendations:

  • Use a strong, unique master password
  • Back up your Qube data regularly
  • Keep your private keys secure - they cannot be recovered if lost
  • Use Sovereign Mode for sensitive conversations
  • Keep the Qubes application updated
